Reaction Paper on Katherine Liepe - Levinson

Katherine Liepe - Levinson, a Fine Art Photographer, was a guest speaker at my photography seminar class. Her work features images of single exposure digital photography with no photoshop. Only basic lightroom adjustments. To adjust the contrast and even lower the saturation. She likes to be known as a pure photographer.

Her work features:
     Water works
     In the woods
     New York, New York
     Hampton's up close
     and other great works.

Her background includes professional dancer, actor, author and educator.

Her life story captured my attention.  After years as a professional dancer she was injured and unable to dance. Where most people would have given up she decided to go back to school. Something I can relate to. She received her PHD in theater from New York City's Cuny Graduate Center.

She gave us a brief intro to the business side of Fine Art Photography. How to present your work to a gallery. How to stand out from the rest.  To be fully prepared with a portfolio of your work. If one gallery doesn't appreciate your work, other's will.

She also showed us a series of her work. It featured photos of a pond with water reflections and New York City window reflections. I loved the water reflection photos. I would have never of thought of taking photos in that matter. The colors, the shapes, the water ripples the turtle and fishes just made the images unique and amazing. I decided to put her work to the test. I went out and photographed some water reflections myself. I have to say, I really enjoyed it. It was different yet fun. Of course my photos don't even compare to her work. I still have so much to learn but enjoying every minute of it.

Cayla's First Birthday Photo Shoot

I know I have so much to learn, but I love to photograph babies and kids. They are so innocent and carefree that it makes my work that easier to shoot.

This weekend I had done a photo shoot for Cayla's First Birthday. She loved the camera.
Here are some samples.

Bring Summer Back

I love the summer. Everything about it. The bright sun shining through the windows. The heat touching your skin.  The ability to take a vacation. To drive to the beach and walk the warm sands. To smell the ocean breeze. The best part of summer, for me, is to be able to take out my jet ski and jump some amazing waves.
The feeling of freedom and the exhilaration I get from the jumps, It relieves my everyday stress and I feel so alive.
Once the summer is gone, I walk the boardwalk, from Fire Island to Long Beach. Wishing summer would arrive soon.
